Professional Year Program In Engineering
The Professional Year in Engineering is the only Government of Australia-legislated work-readiness program designed to improve the career prospects of current engineering graduates; consecutively helping in the nation’s broadening shortage of skilled engineers.
The program runs for a period of 44 weeks. During the course of the program, the participants are acquainted with the Australian workplace culture: OHSE and diversity, means of effective verbal and written communication skills, working in a team and project management fundamentals.
Once familiarised, the participants in order to gain hands-on experience, are introduced to the Australian workplace culture via a 12 weeks’ work placement. They will be made to work with an Australian engineering team. Over the rundown they can participate in their day-to-day affairs. They will get chances to put the theories, which they learned during university years and the program itself, to put into practice. In addition, they’ll get the opportunity to gather evidence for assessment of their Certificate IV in Project Management.
